Devised and delivered by the Irish Architecture Foundation, this new initiative provides students with first hand experience of the design process under the guidance of design professionals. The IAF is working in partnership with the national network of Teachers' Education Centres to train and resource both architects and teachers.
Carrick have been paired with Anna Meehan a practicing architect based in Mountcharles, and part time lecturer on the Architectural Technician course in Letterkenny Intitute of Technology. Carrick is one of six participating schools in Donegal, and the first session with our transition year students began on the 30th Jan. 2014. Over the next 6 weeks this group will be exposed to architectural design concepts with particular emphasis drawn from the local area, and the group will aim to develop and address a brief of their own choice. So, interesting times ahead of this group. Many thanks to Anna for volunteering to engage with our school on this exciting project, and we look forward to seeing what challenges the Carrick students take on.
On this page i will post suggested links to sites which will be of interest to this group and Technology students in general, so keep a regular eye on this page. As the group progress with their project some social media will be used and links to these will also be posted with a few occasional photos of the group in action !
